The Game Changer

DISCLAIMER

When your baby first went to school, the rules changed.

He went from learning in an individualized manner that was interesting and intriguing to only learning the things everyone HAD to learn.

In his classroom the lessons were taught to everyone the same way and with the same one-size-fits-all materials.

The education resources were no longer individualized.

Your child’s ability to guide you to his talents began to vanish away as he had to begin focusing more on learning the tasks at hand and staying on the same page as his peers.

Learning became tedious, tiresome, and boring.  In some ways learning halted.

All too often this has been the case for many children.  It doesn’t have to be this way for your child any longer.

TIME OUT

Now believe me, I am not saying that your child should ONLY learn the things he likes in the way he likes and only for the time he likes.

Nor am I saying that everything needs to be entertaining.

Life is just not made up this way.

What I am saying, is that you have a great opportunity and a very real responsibility to help your child by allowing him—at least some of the time—to learn in a fashion that is suited to him as an individual.

It will empower you both!

YOU HAVE TO TAKE CHARGE

If you’re relying on your child’s teacher to figure this all out for you, you may be waiting for a long, long time.

Today’s classrooms are increasingly overcrowded and as caring as your child’s teacher may be, it is just not possible to give EVERY child the individual attention he or she needs in a classroom setting.

Also, if your child is having a hard time learning with a particular teacher’s teaching style he may never share it with you.

How often have you asked him about his day only to get, “It was fine,” as a reply.

It may not be fine.

Again, this is where you come in.

You won’t be able to completely change your child’s classroom, however, you do have complete and total control over the kind of homework help you provide and your success at home will directly affect your child’s success in the classroom.

We won’t break down the science of it all, but I will discuss a few DOs and DON’Ts of Learning Styles with you.
